IBS Sister’s Weekend Vibes
IBS Sister’s Weekend Vibes
Good evening Sisters! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! My weekend was extremely relaxing, and for that I am grateful! It was MUCH needed. I have been having a two week long “that time of the month”, so you can imagine the exhaustion and flying hormones!
To kick off the week coming to an end, my husband and I went to an IBS support group! It’s nice having online communities, but it was also really nice being around others in person that have IBS! If you’re interested in an IBS support group in your area, you can go on MeetUp, make a free account & type IBS in the search bar, and specify where you live. I was pleasantly surprised to see a community right here in my area! There was a psychotherapist there that explained the brain gut function in great detail. I will have an article published on it soon, so stay tuned! Think: STRESS, FREEZE, FIGHT OR FLIGHT! It was very sweet and comforting that my husband came along with me, too! We ended up having so much fun, and he learned a lot about IBS as well 🙂
We watched three movies this weekend….
& I saw this on Instagram that made me feel better about how I’ve been feeling as of late…THANKS FOR THE REMINDER, MINDBODYGREEN!
Saturday, I did some DIY!
Learn how I did it here: DIY Tassel Beach Bag/Purse
After finishing the bag, my husband and I bought new headphones to have more productive workouts. I definitely needed the wireless headphones so I can keep my phone at a distance while working out so I’m not tempted to get online and talk to you ladies 🙂 It’s very important to relax and destress during a workout, and being preoccupied can have adverse effects. And most importantly, risk having unproductive workouts! The headphones were even great during yoga! WIN! Beats by Dr. Dre- Solo 2 Wireless I WORKOUTTTT! 😉
My Mother-in-law then came over with her new pup, Annie! I tried to insert a photo but it uploaded sideways from my iPhone. So stay tuned for a pic of this sweet girl! We got takeout (I got low-fodmap/dairy free/gluten free, SUSHI!), and then we watched a movie.
P.S. this is not Annie 😉
Today, I made my husband and MIL breakfast, and then him and I went to get groceries. We have been having really weird, unseasonably cool weather here in NC, so I was so happy to this little sign of sunshine/spring/summer!
I then got this surprise in the mailbox! Since I’m always getting medical bills, blood work, etc. in the mail, it’s always really nice to get a few of my favorite magazines 🙂
I did some reading, then some yoga, and then took a nap. I haven’t had a nap in as long as I can remember! It was much needed and a small blessing 🙂 We started watching another movie, and then we saw the sun peaking in through the window! We immediately went to the pool to catch a few rays. I worked on a couple of exciting things for the IBS community, and finished reading my magazine! I even saw some “God Winks” in my magazine 😉
Wowwww we were so surprised to see the sun!
We’re in the bed! My husband is already asleep 🙂 and snoring 🙂 LOL… and I am reflecting on how awesome and relaxing this weekend was! One of my favorite parts was not putting on makeup the whole weekend! 🙂 It’s very important for an IBS Sister to have a relaxing weekend like this every once in awhile. I know that we have obligations a lot of times, but there is something amazing about just chillaxin’! We will have a “big”, long weekend next weekend for Memorial Day at the beach, so a restful weekend was just what the doctor ordered. My stomach didn’t behave this weekend, probably because of that time of the month mostly, but I wore elastic band pants all weekend so the bloating didn’t bother me all that bad! I’m back under my heating pad where I belong, and took some melatonin to help me relax. If you haven’t tried melatonin before, I urge you to give it a try! Especially if you can’t relax like me 🙂 It’s currently storming, thunder, rain and hail, but I thank God for the little bit of sunshine we got to enjoy this weekend. I feel like chronic illnesses are like that. You have to weather the storm, and it’s tough, but sometimes you have that small ray of sunshine that makes life totally worth it 🙂
Wishing all of my IBS Sisters a happy and healthy week!
